On 09-05-2025 19:23, Zalagar wrote: Part Five: Goblins, vampire, and a pretender to the throne Monmonnn, in the spirit of his bash general responsibilities, did some WH-ing and discovered that goblins, sea life, and evil wood accounted for many of the mobiles still remaining. In response to the declaration that dwarf flags should be lowered to half-staff, the surly dwarf11 guard who was now stronger for having killed a warlock in battle shouted this: The surly dwarf guard shouts "I guess that makes me the new king?". However, the bashers decided to deal with him later. Soulhole, sadly, did not stay for the remainder of the bash. Monmonnn and Dara fought the vampire and the wraith as Zarquadon sighted the hunchback. After defeating the evil wood's tag team champions, Monmonnn went off to deal with the rest of the goblins, while Dara went to face the dwarf guards in the treasure chamber, encountering crow11 along the way. Dara, however, ran into problems facing the thickset dwarf guards, and with Winnie's fate on her mind, beat a hasty retreat. There were 25 mobiles left with less then 14 minutes to go. Monmonnn would help Dara finish off the thickset dwarf guards. Meanwhile, Zarquadon (having helped out with the goblins), had taken down the hunchback. Final Showdown, further shenanigans, and the last remaining mobiles At this point, the bashers had run out of useable and reachable wafers, so they had to rely on resting up to recover stamina. This may have cost some time. Zarquadon reported that there was an old man in the graveyard. Dara and Monmonnn entered the surlies' dwarf guard room for a final showdown with the surly dwarf11 guard, hoping to avenge Winnie. Dwarf guard room. This is the home of the king's guard, special, hand-picked troops of the highest order, pledged to lay their lives down in order to save that of their regal master. To the north is a room which seems to indicate use as a debating forum of some kind, and from it through this room runs a red fitted carpet to a doorway in the south wall. The doorway itself is of heavy oak, and although elegantly finished seems to be built more with strength in mind than ornamentation. A smallish, well-maintained pickaxe has been dropped here. The oaken door is open. A surly dwarf guard (dwarf11) blocks your way. The surly dwarf11 guard is wearing a crown, and is carrying a shortsword. Yes, the surly dwarf guard had a crown, apparently trying to claim the throne vacated by the dwarf king and queen. Zarquadon would join in, as she also had a stake in this. As the fight raged on, some shouts occured. *Monmonnn the dragon-slaying, bash-general necromancer shouts "Death to the false king!". *Heiach the chimerical wizard shouts "they're the new king". The fight continued. From Dara's log: *You hear sinews tearing, as Zarquadon the hunchback-killing swordswoman hits the surly dwarf11 guard with her poker. You hear a grinding noise, as the surly dwarf11 guard hits Zarquadon the hunchback-killing swordswoman with his shortsword. You hit the surly dwarf11 guard (10-14). The surly dwarf11 guard looks critically injured. The surly dwarf11 guard misses you. You hear a dull thud, as Monmonnn the dragon-slaying, bash-general necromancer hits the surly dwarf11 guard with his broadsword. You hear a stumble, as the surly dwarf11 guard misses Monmonnn the dragon-slaying, bash-general necromancer with his shortsword. *You hear a dull thud, as Zarquadon the hunchback-killing swordswoman hits the surly dwarf11 guard with her poker. You hear a parried blow, as the surly dwarf11 guard misses Zarquadon the hunchback-killing swordswoman with his shortsword. You hit the surly dwarf11 guard (5-9). The surly dwarf11 guard looks close to death. The surly dwarf11 guard misses you. *You miss the surly dwarf11 guard. The surly dwarf11 guard misses you. *You hear a parried blow, as Monmonnn the dragon-slaying, bash-general necromancer misses the surly dwarf11 guard with his broadsword. You hear a stinging blow, as the surly dwarf11 guard hits Monmonnn the dragon-slaying, bash-general necromancer with his shortsword. *You hear a grinding noise, as Zarquadon the hunchback-killing swordswoman hits the surly dwarf11 guard with her poker. You have killed the surly dwarf11 guard. (Persona saved on +804 = 17,679). Gleaming in front of you is a magnificent crown! Your eyes are drawn to the sublime beauty of an enchanted shortsword which lies by your feet. The surly dwarf11 guard has just passed on. So yes, the surly dwarf guard was worth a lot of points, shared among the players who dealt the final blow. There was little time left to celebrate the victory, as there were still more mobiles to face. Again, from Dara's log: Monmonnn the dragon-slaying, bash-general necromancer shouts "Skeleton in waterfall needs to die". *sh I didn't see any white smoke. So it's not the new king. Oh, wait... :) You shout "I didn't see any white smoke. So it's not the new king. Oh, wait... :)". *Zarquadon the hunchback-killing swordswoman has picked up the shortsword. *Zarquadon the hunchback-killing swordswoman has just left. *Monmonnn the dragon-slaying, bash-general necromancer shouts "Zombie room". Zarquadon would search for the baby dwarf, while Monmonnn would run into problems with the goat. Dara would rush to his assistance, and help to finish off the goat. Monmonnn would then go after the sharks while Dara and Zarquadon would fight the man. Afterward, Dara would go after the spider, but was a little too slow with using the phial. So unfortunately she had to re-enter and wait for the spider to emerge from its lair again. Meanwhile, Monmonnn announced "Shark dead!" *Heiach the chimerical wizard shouts "don't carp on about it". After Dara finished the spider, she went after the carp, and Heiach also hinted that the swan was still in play. Zarquadon caught a sniffle, but still managed to take down the skeleton0. Dara fought the boar as the last rats were disposed of. Then it was time for the players to team up to do the action needed to reach the inner sanctum where the golem is normally found. However, the shenanigans were not just limited to the maiden and the dwarf royalty. It turned out the golem and the ogre had switched places as well. Zarquadon got a bit drunk trying to cure her sniffle, but she managed to help Dara fight the golem in the ogre's lair, and together they brought it down. In the end, there could be only one. And that mobile was the jellyfish. Monmonnn went to sea in search of it, but was unable to find the jellyfish before the set came to an end. Afterward, everyone got together for the post-bash meeting in the tearoom, stating that it was a good attempt. Aside from the loss of Winnie and using up wafers early on, things turned out better than some had expected. Getting down to one mobile is still a very good effort. All in all, for the first bash in a few months, I'd say our bashers did pretty well. This bash report is dedicated to Winnie the malleting warlock. We miss you already.
