Spamton, meanwhile, decided that the best thing to do in this situation would be to go and kill some fireflies on the way to gear up. Galandra, meanwhile, fought with the raven around the same area. Zedar was voted bash general. Heiach announced that there were additional weapons and wafers at the hut. Galandra grabbed the bardiche and wafer22, leaving the rest for the others. Zedar would fight the alligator in the swamp, and would soon be joined by Spamton (who had grabbed the sabre). Together they would take down the alligator and the banshee. Spamton would then realize he needed light to see in dark areas, so he decided to head to the inn to rectify that issue. *Blitzen the dragonfly-slaying sorcerer shouts "DRAGON... fly dead". Galandra fought with ape0, and though ape0 fled, she was eventually able to finish it off. She then went to the hut and grabbed the foil (and not the type you wrap things in). At the bank of river, Galandra fought with ape7 and during the fight was attacked by ape11. Spamton joined in the fight, and soon ape7 was finished off. Ape11 fled and Spamton dealt ape11 the final blow. *Spamton the champion shouts "WHY BUY FROM THE [[Rest]] WHEN YOU CAN BUY FROM THE [[NumberOneRatedLegend2024]]???". *Zedar the bash-general sorcerer shouts "Thank you all for keeping MUD alive and Heiach for hosting the bash". *For your information: there are 150 mobiles still alive. *who Heiach the chimerical wizard Spamton the champion Paine the matriarch Blitzen the dragonfly-slaying sorcerer Zedar the bash-general sorcerer Galandra the necromancess Drizzle the wobbly mage [b]Part Two: Snakes, rats, apes, and skeleton [/b] Spamton, at some point, decided to follow the same route as his sales trajectory (down the drain), and started to deliver some once-in-a-lifetime deals to the water-snakes. aaand he got the longsword! Blitzen found ape1 close to death, and presumably finished it off. Galandra fought and finished ape6, and there were some free strength/dexterity buffs during the fight. As Galandra turned her attention toward the mobiles in the mountainous area west of the pagoda area, Blitzen was taking on undead creatures in the south pasture. He brought down a ferocious zombie, and then noted that skeleton1 was sighted in the south pasture. After Galandra announced "Lynx gone!", there came the following replies: *Zedar the bash-general sorcerer shouts "I couldn't find lynx". *Zedar the bash-general sorcerer shouts "aha!". *sh Spamton the champion shouts "THE SMOOTH SCENT OF [[Hyperlink Blocked]]". Galandra reminded Zedar of where the magical glade was. Blitzen soon reported that skeleton1 was gone. Spamton around this point had finished the quest-within-a-quest of taking down the water-snakes and ventured down into the cellar. Zedar had already killed most of the rats down there, but Spamton finished off the remaining rats. Galandra fought with the monk and then ape9. Zedar, by now, had fed the dragon. Blitzen headed to the entrance to the dwarf realm while Zedar and Spamton joined together to finish the keep mobiles. Galandra fought with the giant snake, and expected things to go as they had in previous bashes: The giant snake putting up a good fight while constantly hissing at its opponent, who (if they were lucky) wouldn't have to use up any wafers against it. But that's not what happened this time around. Instead, due to some glitch, the fight wouldn't progress at all, and even a normal flee ended up with a non-response. Heiach had to intervene to extricate Galandra from this predicament, and both of them were left puzzled. Meanwhile, with 67 minutes left to go, the dragon died, and the keep was cleared without incident. Zedar, Spamton, and Blitzen ventured to the mines and confronted dwarfs in the dwarf pasture. Galandra would then fight the tiger in the pagoda. [b]Part Three: Banding together at the Citadel[/b] After finishing the tiger, Galandra decided to join the others in the dwarf citadel to take down the stocky and hefty dwarf guards. All four of them would go in and bring down the burly dwarf guards. Shortly after the dwarf king was defeated, Heiach gave a warning. *Heiach the chimerical wizard shouts "be careful with the surlies". *open door The key10 grates in the lock... The oaken door creaks slowly open. *look n Looking northward, you see a place known as "dwarf guard room". It contains a baby dwarf guard, a baby dwarf guard, a baby dwarf guard and an oaken door. *Heiach the chimerical wizard shouts "they're extra deadly today". At least one member of the group took a peek in the room, and saw what was different this week. Heiach had responded to Monmonnn's concerns and made a slight switch-up here. The group soon took down the thickset dwarf guards in the treasure chamber, and then went to see what was happening in the guard room where the surlies normally were assigned. Dwarf guard room. This is the home of the king's guard, special, hand-picked troops of the highest order, pledged to lay their lives down in order to save that of their regal master. To the north is a room which seems to indicate use as a debating forum of some kind, and from it through this room runs a red fitted carpet to a doorway in the south wall. The doorway itself is of heavy oak, and although elegantly finished seems to be built more with strength in mind than ornamentation. A surly baby dwarf guard lies over to one side. A surly baby dwarf guard lies over to one side. The baby dwarf guard is carrying a shortsword. A surly baby dwarf guard lies over to one side. The baby dwarf guard is carrying a wafer24. The oaken door is open. And so that was the unusual sight that awaited the group of bashers when they entered that particular guard room. I'm not going to go into too much detail as to what happened next, only that it was a short fight. There were still a few other dwarfs left in and around the citadel, and after they were disposed of, it was decided that they would take on the Tag Team Champions of the Evil Wood (the vampire and the wraith). [b]Part Four: Ogre with cape, and goblins[/b] And so it went, with Galandra and Spamton taking down a sabre-wielding dwarf18 at the narrow road between lands. With the vampire and the wraith disposed of, the cape ended up somewhere else somehow - namely with the ogre. Spamton, meanwhile was offering a "[[Hot]] NEW DEAL!!", which was "A [[Weapon]] WHICH TALKS BACK!!!". *Spamton the champion shouts "COME TO MY [[Home-made Storefront Site]] IN THE [[Woodsman's Shack]] IF YOU WANT A SPECIAL HEAVEN-PIERCING [[Chatterbox]] OF A WEAPON!". As Spamton was offering Valetant to others, Galandra finished off the ogre despite the ogre's having the cape. After Galandra and Spamton opened the portcullis, they ventured down into the goblin area. Between them, they soon took down all of the goblins. Galandra fought with the exceptionally large goblin10, which was the last of the goblins. *Heiach the chimerical wizard shouts "goblins are goblout". Zedar, clearly taking his bash-general role seriously, decided to WH as many mobiles as possible to find out what was left and announce his findings to everyone else. Zedar the dragon-slaying, bash-general sorcerer shouts "I have a list of all remaining mobs for us. I'll start cracking on with sealife". Zedar the dragon-slaying, bash-general sorcerer shouts "be ready to copy the string I'm about to yell whats left-". Zedar the dragon-slaying, bash-general sorcerer shouts "basilisk, canary, bees, carp, coot, crocodile, ghost0, ghoul, goblins, hh, hb, jf, man, mongoose, phoenix, piglet, scorpion, shark0, shark1, sk0, sk2, snugglepuss, spider, stag, wolf, z7". *Zedar the dragon-slaying, bash-general sorcerer shouts "thats all". Galandra had the canary follow her to the swamp, where it suddenly keeled over, stone cold dead in the big swamp. Spamton, meanwhile, made his way to the mausoleum to slay the undead creatures there. Blitzen headed to the aviary, while Zedar announced: Zedar the dragon-slaying, bash-general sorcerer shouts "I can conquer the bees, in a pinch". Zedar the dragon-slaying, bash-general sorcerer shouts "Not as fast as Folly, however.". Spamton the champion shouts "SK2 [[Deconstructed]]" [b]Part Five: Especially elusive mobiles[/b] Heiach soon announced there were 32 left with 28 minutes to go. Blitzen had made it to the maze of hedges ahead of Zedar, and Galandra headed back to the pagoda to deal with the mobiles remaining in the upper portions of it. After some ghostbusting in the first upper floor of the pagoda, Galandra fought with the phoenix and the mongoose. The latter, however, escaped, and Galandra found herself transported elsewhere, so she had to do the steps needed to reach the upper levels all over again to get back. Meanwhile, Blitzen and Zedar fought the man at the Admiral Bombow inn. Spamton, meanwhile, took out the ghoul, and then started to do battle against the goat. There was a mishap with the basilisk, resulting in the sudden substitution of Salvadore. *who Heiach the chimerical wizard Salvadore the necromancer Alexander the necromancer Sister Sibylla Spamton the champion Zedar the dragon-slaying, bash-general sorcerer Galandra the necromancess Drizzle the wobbly mage *Salvadore the necromancer shouts "I've made a nice new statue near basilisk". *Salvadore the necromancer shouts "bison west lush pasture". *Zedar the dragon-slaying, bash-general sorcerer shouts "the seagull keeps moving into weird places *weeps*". Galandra kept trying to find the mongoose in the perpetually dark level of the pagoda, only for it to elude her. Similarly, Zedar couldn't catch the seagull because it, like the mongoose, kept moving into weird places that he couldn't reach. Seeing that Galandra was basically like a car stuck in the mud hopelessly spinning its wheels at this point, Heiach took pity on Galandra and helped her find and finish the mongoose, and leave the pagoda area. Galandra and Spamton would soon finish off the bison in the forest south of the swamp and east of the pine forest. Zedar would give another announcement of the remaining mobiles. *Zedar the dragon-slaying, bash-general sorcerer shouts "carp, crocodile, ghoul, piglet, sk0, spider, wolf". *Salvadore the necromancer shouts "piglet". Spamton went after the piglet while Galandra went after the carp. As the bashers continued to seek out remaining mobiles, Zedar went through the WH list again, as one mobile seemed unaccountered for. *Zedar the dragon-slaying, bash-general sorcerer shouts "if someone discovers the mobile unaccounted for, please let me know. carp, croc, piglet, sk0, spider, wolf. I'll add it to our list". *Spamton the champion shouts "IN TERMS OF [[Piglet]] THERE IS [[RoastPiglet]]". *In the distance, you hear a wolf baying AAAOOOOOOHHHH. For your information: there are 5 mobiles still alive. Galandra grabbed a phial and slew the spider. In front of the hut, Salvadore summoned skeleton0 (and this is the second alliteration involving Salvadore in this writeup). Galandra joined in to help finish off skeleton0. Soon afterward, Zedar announced that the hunchback was the missing mobile. Zedar the dragon-slaying, bash-general sorcerer shouts "HUNCHBACK IS THE MISSING MOB". Zedar the dragon-slaying, bash-general sorcerer shouts "I ALREADY WH'D IT BUT FORGOT TO WRITE IT DOWN". Galandra the necromancess shouts "Hunchback is not an improv guy this set. He's sticking to the scriptorium. :)". Zedar the dragon-slaying, bash-general sorcerer shouts "the remaining 3 mobiles are: crocodile, hunchback, golem. Well done everyone.". And so Galandra and others sought the crocodile in the swamp. The problem was, it kept fleeing and escaping to other parts of the swamp, and eventually people lost sight of it and couldn't find it. It was yet another elusive mobile. I'd say that this bash's award for Most Elusive Mobile goes to the crocodile, the mongoose, and the seagull in a three-way tie. Undaunted, Zedar organized a group to help with access to the golem and the sanctum. Zedar ended up being the one to enter the inner sanctum, as time was running out on the reset. *Zedar the dragon-slaying, bash-general sorcerer shouts "the croc is in here too which I am glad about". Indeed he had good reason to be glad about it. There wasn't enough time left in the set to keep trying to search for the crocodile. In any case, Zedar fought both the crocodile and the golem, the last two remaining mobiles in the set, as time ran out. The crocodile went down, leaving the golem the last remaining mobile alive. And then THIS happened (transcribed from Zedar's screenshot of the event). Time-stamp: 22:07:10 on 24-JUL-2025. This is reset 12454, using slot 0. A reset is due in 12 seconds. *You hit the golem (15-19). The golem looks close to death. The golem hits (91/105). Time-stamp: 22:07:10 on 24-JUL-2025. This is reset 12454, using slot 0. A reset is due in 10 seconds. Time-stamp: 22:07:10 on 24-JUL-2025. This is reset 12454, using slot 0. A reset is due in 10 seconds. You hit the golem (15-19). You have completed another Task. This makes a total of 3. (Persona saved on +100 = 21,260). (Persona saved on +112 = 21,372). You feel as if a tremendous evil has been rid from The Land! No pawns of darkness sully it with their presence. The relief of generations of souls floods through your being! (Persona saved on +3,000 = 24,372). *reset Time-stamp: 22:07:14 on 24-JUL-2025. This is reset 121454, using slot 0. A reset is due in 8 seconds. [b]Conclusion[/b] And so with 8 seconds to spare, the bash was successful. Everyone immediately found themselves in the tearoom for the post-bash chat. Heiach noted some of the weirdness that ensued when introducing the extra wafers and the baby dwarf guards. It was also noted that the keep treasure that had been stored in the hut for later use never had the chance to be swamped, so Heiach graciously placed it and the icons in the hut so that the bashers could pick up where the reset made them leave off. In any case, this was an amazing bash with some bizarre new twists, and an incredible finish. One of the closest finishes I've seen in quite a while.
