[quote] On 25-09-2009 10:47, royston wrote: LAST NIGHT'S DRAGON BASH (24/09/2009) Before things got going there was some doubt as to whether it was on at all. There was some reckless talk about canceling the event. However reason prevailed and we all headed North to engage an enraged dragon. I had three new Heroes that I had built up during the week. Rashly I believed these to be enough. There was some kit gathering to be done first though. Someone set up the pillar and the Fairy Ring was opened up. The Fairy Ring on the land side appeared in the Dwarfen Pasture. The one SE of Panoramic View. Later in the game, as you brought in new personas, this gave you the choice of wasting time getting yourself a glow as a non-magic-user or negotiating the mine in the dark. I found fumbling through the dark worked fine. On my first trip, I found Scurvy, Snailish, Plug and Satori ahead of me. I had already heard a Hawump so I do not think Scurvy was the first to die, but he was the first I saw dying. I went through my three Heroes rapidly. There was a continuous stream of players going to the Island and attacking the poor dragon and being killed by the beast. I started fleeing at 30 stam, forgetting about the inevitable fatal Hawumph that followed. I was soon fighting to the death, coming back as a Novice or Protector when I ran out of Heroes. So it seemed, was everybody else. This went on back and forth for some time and the dragon seemed as strong as ever. But eventually it appeared the dragon tried to sleep, which was a clear sign we were getting the upper hand. Then when I arrived on the scene, with yet another new persona, there was no dragon. He had finally been overcome by just three players. There was no reward for the rest of us. That was not the point of the exercise - taking part was reward enough. In any case there is no point in rewarding Throwaway personas. Here is a copy of the Obit:- The following players have died in fights this reset: Cf the protector, killed by the dragon (12 times), Kingcobra the protector, killed by the dragon (4 times), Montezuma the protector, killed by the dragon (10 times), Scurvy the protector, killed by the dragon (12 times), Halscat the protector, killed by the dragon, Og the protector, killed by the dragon, Halsdog the protector, killed by the dragon, Labrat the protector, killed by the dragon, Kingbobra the protector, killed by the dragon, Draggysdad the protector, killed by the dragon, Draggycow the protector, killed by the dragon, Skaro the necromancer, killed by the dragon, Bambam the swordswoman, killed by the dragon, Scurvfy the protector, killed by the dragon, Dragmuch the warrior, killed by the dragon, Tundra the warlock, killed by the dragon, Scurvy the warrior, killed by the dragon, Sparticus the swordswoman, killed by the dragon, (Ribena the warlock), killed by the dragon, Drnick the warrior, killed by the dragon, Draggyman the warrior, killed by the dragon, Gog the hero, killed by the dragon, Satori the warlock, killed by the dragon, Scurvy the swordsman, killed by the dragon, Kingcobra the swordswoman, killed by the dragon, Snailish the warrior, killed by the dragon, Plug the superhero, killed by the dragon. The following players have died miscellaneous deaths this reset: Maygog the hero, killed by the dragon's breath, Montezuma the protector, killed by the dragon's breath, Og the superhero, killed by the dragon's breath, Outback the heroine, killed by the dragon's breath, Energizer the hero, killed by the dragon's breath. The record number of deaths is held by Scurvy at 14 (incl. one as a Swordsman and one at Warrior) but closely following at 12 is Cf. Next week we ought to have a Wiz Bash. That is exactly the same as a Dragon Bash except that Cf is substituted for the Dragon. It brings a whole new meaning to the phrase "FOD ALL".
