After three weeks of the unusual, I was expecting coming back to a conventional Mobile Bash to be a bit of a let-down. But it was far from that. It was a good steady satisfying bash, with plenty of examples of good team work. True we did run out of time with about six mobiles left at the end. At one time I thought we were going to make it with 47 Mobiles left and 42 minutes to go. My personal highlights were:-

1. Killing the Wyvern, after he dropped the nice present I gave him, and blocking my exit without me being poisoned once, in a straight fight, using the Staff0, for 238 points.

2. Realising the I had only to kill one reptile and one insect to complete Task 4. Being beaten to the Viper but finding the Scorpion and then killing a bee.

3. Being jumped by Alma in the Maze and he pleading for a withdrawal when things started to get tough for him, to which I agreed. To be fair my stam was down to 20 and I was pleased to get out of it so easily.

4. Cabinboy the Hero attacking Raffles the Sorcerer by mistake through typing 'k player' instead of 'l player'. This is not the first time this has happened in the history of the game.

5. Heiach at Mage level coming into the game to help with icons.

6. Running the Hedgehog and getting stuck in the Small Bedroom on the way to the Attic because someone had blocked the fitted cupboard with the heavy chest. Then killing the poor hedgehog for 284 points.

And 7. Sabretooth dropping Giant0 on me in the Entrance to the Inn. This is a single player room so I was not expecting any help, yet it was big enough to hold one player, a dirty great giant and a Wizard with a sense of humour. Things were going well I thought, but Sabre stepped in and no doubt, in reality, saved my bacon. Still, I did get 339 points.

Taking part were Heiach the Mage, Reeves the Warlock, Raffles the Sorcerer, Alma the Sorcerer, Cabinboy the Swordsman and me at Sorcerer level.

You are standing in the centre of a pleasant maze of hedges.

Resting here resplendently is a superb ornamental jar. An interesting old beehive stands here, exposed to the elements.
Royston the sorcerer is here, asleep wearing a gauntlet, and carrying an opened, empty phial4, a key52 and a staff0.
*wav
OK, Alma the sorcerer waves.
*fol roy
OK, you're secretly following Royston the sorcerer.
*Royston the sorcerer has woken up!
*Royston the sorcerer has just left.
You follow Royston the sorcerer eastward...
You are wandering in a pleasant maze of hedges.
Royston the sorcerer is here wearing a gauntlet, and carrying an opened, empty phial4, a key52 and a staff0.
*Royston the sorcerer waves.
*Royston the sorcerer has just left.
You follow Royston the sorcerer northward...
You are wandering in a pleasant maze of hedges.
A busy bee (bee7) buzzes by.
Royston the sorcerer is here wearing a gauntlet, and carrying an opened, empty phial4, a key52 and a staff0.
*act rushes towards you!
You act as if Alma rushes towards you!
*The bee7 bumbles off.
*gr
OK, Alma the sorcerer grins.
*Royston the sorcerer is about to attack you with the staff0.

When did you become so full of yourself Royston?

1. It seems apparent to me that you tricked Royston into thinking you'd attacked him and he responded... Why does that make him full of himself?

2. Have the guts to post your main name if you're going to insult people.

Alma is a character in the game fear so I suspect there is a link.

I dont see how Alma "tricked" Royston into attacking her. If I saw that on my screen, my first reaction would be to "use wp" not "k name f wp".

I to would love to see some evidence of this "begging".

Who would be despicable enough to ask a Wiz to interfere with your game Royston?

It's beyond the pale. It really is.

If I ever get my hands on him, why, I'll, I'll....

I have never made it a secret that I use the Clio client and make full use of the macro facilites on the function keys. I have two for killing F10 is 'k 1 mob wi best wp' (I added the '1' after wading into a whole troop of apes too often) and the one I introduced just last Thursday for the Sorc. War <CTR>F10 'k player x me wi best wp'. I used to have 'use best wp' on <CTR>F10 but I found F10 works just as well. You can tell my level of skill by reading the log when in my haste I hit F10 without holding down the <CTR> key.

EDIT: I can see now that infact I did start the fight but I was convinced that Alma attacked me. I even said as much to Sabretooth immediately afterwards. But what is the point of PRETENDING to attack and follow it with a grin?

I'd have thought I was really being attacked, too. I don't play the game that the name 'Alma' is from, so I wouldn't have gotten that it was a joke either. I can see how Royston was confused by it. Even so, Alma was playing a regular persona, not a PP, so even if Royston had chosen to attack him for no reason it still would have been fine.

Ok, so I've had it explained to me that apparently "Almo rushes towards you" is some kind of reference to the game fear 2, but I doubt anyone who hasn't played it would know that. My initial reaction on reading that fight log was that Almo was joking around and pretending to attack Royston, but Royston wasn't reading his screen closely enough and made the mistake of thinking it was a real attack. I think his subsequent actions (including his remark about Almo pleading to withdraw) are reasonably explained from that initial misunderstanding. It seems a little unlikely to jump to the conclusion that Royston was pking and then bragging about his win

Royston has offered his reason for using 'k name f wp' instead of 'use wp', and I do the same thing in a different scenario. If I've been after a player I'll often have 'k name f wp' saved in my clipboard and if they attack me first, its quicker to just paste that in than it is to type 'use wp'.

Royston, Alma knew exactly what he was doing! Alma is a PK, so don't worry about, nice trick that would have fooled most of us mortals!

Roleplay? ROLEPLAY? I thought the whole pleading game was roleplay. Or am I confusing the reality of MUD with the virtual world of real life? Now that we know what happened and how it happened, what you did was very silly and provocative in the extreme. You cannot expect evryone to recognise the association you claim to have made. Fear as a game means nothing to me and I associate the name 'Alma' with Alma Cogan and a Battle Honour from the Crimea War. (And Yes Blib, I remember the former but not the latter). But I would never expect anyone one else to make the same associations that I do. I doubt if you recognise my two.

As for it being a friendly warning about the dangers of sleeping in the Maze. I am well aware of them, but at the moment it's the best I've got. No doubt in time I will work out by myself how to hide in the Attic, the Caved-in Gave and the Crypt.

Lastly I fail to see why I have to justify my actions. My reacton to your 'pretend' attack was the expected one and under the circumstances justified. Not that I need any justification: I reserve the right to PK anyone, anywhere and at any time. It is part of the game. So stop moaning.

EDIT: For what it's worth Alma Cogan and the Battle of Alma both have a slot on Wiki but Fear2 does not.

The attack made by Royston to Alma in the Thursdays bash has all got a bit out of hand now i think. Royston attacked while misreading an ACT made by Alma, which was supposed to be just a bit of fun, and has all got completely out of hand now. When an ACT is performed by another player the text will usually appear in white, when a real attack is performed it will show in the colour RED. Alma did withdraw because they had no intention of attacking Royston, Alma was actually helping the bash at the time and was just joking around with Royston. Lets kiss and make up please, bashes are supposed to be fun.
