Following on from this thread:

If either of you has the time, now would be a great opportunity to update the listing on topmudsites.com, as there seems to be a lot of interest in voting. Even though I'm rarely on I've still been voting twice per day until it was pointed out that being high on the lists at the moment could damage our chances. The problems I am aware of are:

-- It lists in the features, "Payment Required to Play" and in the long description, "As well as the pay per play system a low monthly subscription fee is available. New players get a free 6 hours to get going and there is a free 'happy hour' available every single night."

-- There is no short description for the listing page. It just appears as "mudii"

-- (less important) some of the description about who runs the game is no longer accurate.

The mudconnect.com page seems to be uptodate about the game being free.

I know from experience on MUD1 that a good voting campaign can bring in new players, and we seem to be doing quite well, currently at rank 31 after a recent ranking reset.

I'm glad it isn't me telling the Arch-Wizzes how to do their job, no matter how politely.

Hi! Sorry, I haven't been around lately for reasons non-mud related so I won't go into it here.

As Turrican said there are problems with updating the current entry. I have tried several times but there are issues. But the suggestion of making a new entry then deleting the old entry is a good idea. I'm not sure how quickly the old entry can be deleted though, how would it look to have two entries do you think?

I guess it wouldn't matter if the "old" entry was left alone and forgotten as it fell down the top 100 list.. until it was able to be deleted.. We just need to boost up the new one a lot!

I agree with Heiach. If a MUD isn't in the top 100 the only way to come across it is to search for it by name, in which case both results would show up together anyway, and the majority of interest will come through users browing the top 100 list. With zero votes, the old entry will never appear in the top 100 once the list resets (which is every 2 weeks).

So I wouldn't be too worried about the old entry not getting deleted.

Just to update you - I have re-registered with TMS but I keep getting emails asking me to contact the admin (to verify that I'm not a spambot). I've done this several times now so I can only assume that the person who runs this website is away on holiday or something. Until he responds I can't do anything on the website.

It's all sorted now, I have updated the current MUDII listing. Please take a look and feel free to suggest any improvements.

I'm puzzled as to why my name was the voting keyword though. This is the voting link:

http://www.topmudsites.com/vote-karya.html

What would be a better keyword? I don't really know how the voting system works.

Thanks Karya.

Up from 90's to 35 over night, keep voting
