BASH REPORT FOR THURSDAY 26TH JANUARY 2012 (such as it is)

When you start getting very annoyed with one person, a player of considerable experience, playing the game with all the skill and sophistication of a first-week newbie and then get furious with yourself for compounding the issue by, in one case, repeating the same stupidity yourself, you are taking the game far too seriously and the time has come to give it a bit of a rest. I therefore give notice that I will not be bashing on a Thursday night until such time as I recover some sense of proportion. I hope I will still play the occasional game during the week. I have been doing these reports for almost four years and I also feel you need a change of author. In any case, you must all by now, be thoroughly sick of my style.

As you can see, it was not a game I enjoyed. It ended up with just about everyone on the Island dodging the Dragon. I do not blame Gaia whatsoever for stealing the coal from me. My effort finally at dealing with the Dragon ended in nought as I tripped on a root on the way in. However by then we were in the final stages of the game and it would have ended before the dragon died. There were three mobiles left at the end: The Dragon, the Golem and we think one skeleton. Folly said he enjoyed the game and I think the Dragon had a good time too.

There might have been a zombie that looked a bit like me wandering around at the end, dunno.

The main problem with the bash was that the chart was destroyed, which I suspect was caused by it being in the coracle which caught fire after the vampire went boom.

*For your information: the vampire is worth 3,755 points if killed.
*obit
The following players have died in fights this reset:
Castiel the legend, killed by the vampire.

In the distance, you hear an incredibly loud >*B*O*O*M*<.
*A male voice in the distance shouts "v dead".

I also think the dragon is still holding a grudge about the dragon bash we had a few months ago.

*The dragon is moving towards you hatefully.
*You can't just leave in the middle of a fight! You have to flee!
*You can't just leave in the middle of a fight! You have to flee!
*I don't know how you expect to enter the ring6, it isn't even a container!
*The dragon hits you (80/110).
You miss the dragon.
*f e
(-1,828 = 38,936).
Toadstool dropped.
Baton dropped.
Dinghy dropped.
Broadsword dropped.
Ring6 dropped.
Cape dropped.
Scarab dropped.
Cardboard box1 dropped.
You have fled by going east.
HAWUMPH! The dragon incinerates you with its fiery breath.

I was (optimistically) hoping to find the coal on the island. Was it even on there? Luckily, or not as the case may be, the chart re-appeared in the captain's cabin shortly before the end.

I am really, truly sorry for all the trouble I caused. I shouldn't have been in too much of a hurry to do the dragon.

I don't know who put the coal in the box, though.

Clearly if you took it out of box0 on the Island, someone went to the trouble of putting it back in after your demise. That could only have been a Wiz. I expect it was the same one who hid the chart.

I don't believe I ever put it in the box in the first place. So I have no idea how it ended up in the box.

I think the time has now come for a bit of frankness. If you peruse the quote from my log above, you will see it was me. I put the coal in box0. Soon afterwards you told me you wanted to kill the dragon and, minded that you had killed most of the rats, I gave you the box. That took place right at the start of the game. Towards the end of the game I found box0 on the Island with the coal still inside. The obvious conclusion is that it was never out of the box, that you forgot to take it out at the Vicious Rocks and faced the dragon with it still concealed and wondered why it attacked you. This is the exact same thing I have done on more than one occasion. Indeed as I stated above I spent a considerable time looking for the coal on the ground, not realising I already had it.

Whilst I only turned up at the end, it was quite fun to find that the bash wasn't totally over. One of the previous bashes had been all finished with 30 mins to go.

It does need someone to keep an eye on what mobiles are still left to fight. When the reset finished there was golem, dragon, sk1 and one other to go. No-one seemed to know what that last mobile was. I was quite surprised that banshee was still around, ditto the zombie in the mausoleum.

For what it's worth, I'm pretty sure that so long as the dragon is fed before the auto-reset countdown starts, the game will not reset until it dies (or more precisely, the auto-reset, when it does kick in, will factor in however many additional seconds are needed for the dragon to die).

Hey Armand!! That is certainly my own experience on both counts. In this case my futile attempt was made after the reset warning, so there would have been insufficient time for the dragon to die.

With <= 15 mobiles left it would be auto extended.

I take the point. But in this case there was barely time for Gaia to steal the coal from me and for me to go south off the Headland in my little boat and then get back into the game. What was unusual was all the players dashing around the Island when the dragon was alive and full of beans.
