Good point. OK unless anyone objects (apart from the people who object to everything on principle) we'll make it Thursday the 1st, in place of the usual bash.

Although if, like Mapper, it turns out I am also free on the Wednesday, maybe we'll have a practice run. Maybe we won't. I'm spinning Crazyfool's catheter now to decide, but ARGHHHH it leaked!!!!!!!!!

I'll see you all on the Thursday then, once I clean up!

Thanks Hawumph and everyone else who helped to organise it. It made a nice change from the norm! A few of us even managed to complete a quest during the bash.

Here's what the OBIT looked like at the end:

The following players have died in fights this reset:
Zedar the giant-killing, apparitional necromancer, killed by the golem,
Holyone the spooky swordsman, killed by the giant,
Mrniceguy the haunted scout, killed by 7 apes,
Royston the shadowy warrior, killed by 7 apes,
Death the undead protector, killed by Renfield,
Holyone the spooky swordsman, killed by the goblin,
Royston the sorcerer covered in blood, killed by the tiger,
Whabey the dragonfly-slaying superheroine, killed by the goblin,
Holyone the spooky yeoman, killed by the goblin,
Holyone the protector, killed by the goblin,
Mrniceguy the pixie-preening patriarch, killed by the pumpkin,
Holyone the igor-loving patriarch, killed by 2 goblins,
Death the chirpy yeowoman, killed by the goblin,
Caboose the clowning-around hero, killed by the goblin,
Widowmaker the necromancess, killed by 3 goblins,
Dannyjim the swordsman, killed by the nanny goat.
The following non-first-game players have died to the touchstone this reset:
Guybrush the giant-killing, mummified champion, short of luck by a
quite small amount,
Paradox the bruce-willis championne, short of luck by a very small
amount.

Without wishing to appear the slightest bit sycophantic, I just wanted to add my thanks to those of Armand for a splendid evening.

I was a bit surprised at the moaning in the Tea Room afterwards during the washing up. It seems to me that some players expect to win all the time regardless and do not accept that playing the game is the enjoyable bit. We all need to be stretched a bit from time to time to stop us getting bored and, more important, to stop us becoming too complacent.

To suggest that the Mobiles were novel in their toughness to the extent that it made the game too difficult, strikes me that the player found it uncomfortable and would feel happier plodding his same routine, game in game out. A healthier attitude would have been to regard the appearance of these mobiles as a fresh challenge and a fresh chance to learn.

Sure, I lost Sorcerer and at my level of experience it's going to take me ten or fourteen days to get back up, but I'm going to enjoy getting there.

As for the TS, at Champion level there is a 60/40 or a 70/30 (or whatever) chance of making it. I am convinced that the Wizzes have no way of altering these odds. The point is that these odds are constant. It makes no difference what went before or what happens the next time, the chances are the same at each attempt and individual to each attempt. We all have to go for the TS at some stage. If it is felt that at Champion level these odds are not favourable enough then perhaps it would be better to leave it until a higher level is reached.

Personally I find that being an MU broadens the game, at the same time making bits of it easier to accomplish and I like to get there at an early stage.

They say, rightly, that you have not lived until you have died in MUD. I would like to add that at each death you learn something new. Me? I learnt that when having a slight disagreement with a tiger, you flee at 29 not 19!

No, my thanks to all the organisers for a great evening.

May I also add that it's best to avoid wandering round the pumpkin (previous dwarf) realm on 7 stamina!

Great bash, had loads of fun! Thanks to Hawumph for running it and all those who played!
