I might ask the same question. The last few nights I have logged on late evening, as is my wont,to find not only the Land empty but the Tearoom empty as well.

p.s. I played! Here is my event report:
I come onto mud. There's no-one there, so I loiter a little. I am amused at the fact that my prefix is permanent. No-one arrives, so I go north. Then I realise I've not set up clio since I reinstalled, and enter doesn't repeat the previous command. I quit.
Having configured clio, I come back on. There's still no-one around. So I go into the land, and try to remember what you do. I remember firestones! So I wh one of those, and go to get it. Then I run across a warlock called "quitalot" who has apparently arrived since I first logged on, and is carrying a lot of (all of the) kit. He attacks me, and I try to remember what to do. Vis! That's a good one. So I try that a bit, and run out of magic. Can you see where this is going?
Anyway, I flee and quit remarkably surviving. A bit later I go back in to touch the touchstone and whilst stumbling around trying to remember where the cave of stars is, I encounter his pile of kit where he left it.
Suffice to say, I'm a bit rusty.
Oh, whilst waiting in the tearoom for my stam to go up from 12 or whatever, Gestur comes in. But quits before I notice.
It was brilliant!
