New website

You may have noticed that the website has been down for a while, and it now looks a bit different.

This was a long time coming, but hastened by a vulnerability in PHP, which the previous website used. Because of the website's age, it's simply not possible to upgrade PHP and so the whole website needed to be scrapped and completely rewritten.

This has now been done, but it's not quite the same site...

Firstly, you will possibly have noticed that the forum has gone. We were previously using a heavily customised version of phpBB from 2001 (that's a quarter of a century ago!) - it's actually incredible that it's lasted this long. It's not coming back, unfortunately.; there are modern alternatives, such as Discord, which players already use.

We've also taken the opportunity to bring the web client back to life. However, caveat emptor, it's not the best client and may not be stable as it needs a bit more play-testing, but it will hopefully be useful for casual play and to assist new players.

The biggest change is the way MUD game accounts are managed. The existing web accounts have all gone, and you'll need to create a new web account. Make sure you use the same e-mail address when you do. That way, any game accounts associated with your e-mail address will be transferred across and linked to your new account.

You can have up to five game accounts per e-mail address and can create new game accounts through the website. You can also view account details and reset your game passwords in case you've forgotten one.

You now need to:

  1. Create a new website account, which you can do here. Make sure you use the same e-mail address as your existing account.

  2. Once you've created your website account, view the game accounts linked to it here.

  3. Try out the new web client here!

If you have any problems, please e-mail us at admin@mudii.co.uk.

Have fun!
