Can I start by publicly thanking Oonas for his generosity during a game yesterday early evening; a generosity which I am not sure I deserved, having clobbered poor old Santa and come off second best. I am not sure who Oonas is. He is probably second/third persona of a hi-life player. But you know who you are. Thank you. You enabled me to face the Bash as a Magic-User making me a lot happier at the prospect. The Bash got off to a good start with Folly elected and Bash-General. Players: Crazyfool the stand-up wizard Vivec Pinguis the necromancer Royston the sorcerer= Cenedra the mage# Folly the sorcerer Hellhound the sorcerer That?s how we started but I believe others joined in later. I hardly came across any other players during the set. I spent the time mostly doing my own thing. I was late on parade but in time for the time-honoured ceremony of the pillar. We were all called to the Classical Ruin. On the way I found the pillar in still its original place. Feeling it was a sensible thing to do, I picked it up and took it with me. After conducting the business with some degree of dignity, I was too slow getting the pointers, so had to get into the Goblins? Lairs by another route, catching a cold in the process. Again I wished that there was some sort of cough medicine in the Land but you just have to manfully endure it, letting it running its course. With the Goblins all dead, I went after the rats but found none alive. Somebody had got there while I was still down the Goblins?. I wandered around for a considerable time not finding anything except that I helped Hellhound with a skeleton, before eventually giving in, despite my determination not to do my usual stuff, and went down the well. I followed this up, of course, by going on the North Mountain. In my perambulations, I came across Santa and with my experiences during the day in the front of my mind, I waded in, determined on revenge. I soon realised I need some help. Dear Old Santa was a tough turkey. As I was busy shouting for help I suddenly saw my stamina was down to 16. I fled south on a stamina of 6. That was a close run thing. Santa had only minor injuries. The ?wh? command did not seem to work on him; he appeared protected. Neither did it seem to work on anything he was carrying (like my staff). I was thus unable to locate him and rashly initiate another punch-up. Just as well perhaps. I got the coot unarmed ? simple enough, before picking up the valetant in the hut. The spider went down as perfectly ever leaving me with stamina of 45. The valetant is a two edged sword in this sense: it talks to you when you are trying to get some sleep. I thought I would overcome this problem by leaving it in an adjoining room but fearing I might lose it, went back for it. I had realised I need only deafen myself. Some hope; the valetant woke me up by telling me it had very kindly cured my deafness. I wandered into the Mine and I think I killed the last remaining dwarf; the one and only one I did manage to kill this game. I think in future I might try and tackle the dwarfs a bit instead of going for the Watersnakes every time. Well perhaps not the Dwarf Guards on my own. I don?t think it?s too clever sticking to the same routine all the time. There were by now just 10 mobiles left. Skeleton0 still had to be done. As I have said before, they are not easy as the have a remarkable recovery rate. How for example, is this possible? *You hit the skeleton0 (10-14). The skeleton0 looks seriously damaged. The skeleton0 misses you. *You hit the skeleton0 (1-4). The skeleton0 looks moderately damaged. I got him in the end. The last mobile was as the Golem. To be exact there were two Golems, so we were lucky to finish at all. I don?t know exactly how much time was left at the end, but feel it was about 10 or 15 minutes. A worthy victory for us mortals.
