Today is the fortieth birthday of _MUD_.
On 20th October, 1978 (possibly two or three days earlier, we're not exactly sure) Roy Trubshaw sat down at a computer terminal at Essex University and coded the first version of a program he called _MUD_, the Multi-User Dungeon.

Today's meetup is all in my imagination, and I'm imagining myself attending with all of you, but it seems I'm the only one who's made it to this fantastic gathering in my mind!
In my imaginary world, we're having a blast, discussing the mysteries of the universe, sharing invisible snacks, and even I'm winning the invisible limbo contest.
If you're running late or caught up in the time-space continuum, rest assured that in my daydream, you're right here with me, and I'm not attending this meetup alone in my imagination.
