AJAX or Asynchronous JavaScript and XML is some sort of new rehash of oldish technology on websites.

Do you people recken it is possable to create a mud client in AJAX? So that would avoid having to use java, shockwave and other technologies that don't come with browsers as standard.

Anyway just an idea...

It would be immensely hard to do this, especially when you consider you can't afford any sort of lag.

I think it would require the mud server to be programmed to accept it, or else an intermediate server to translate the http requests to telnet, as I think ajax is based on a function solely for making http requests rather than allowing the use of any protocol.

You wait six months for a reply, then three come along at once!

AJAX would work, and the server wouldnt have to be recoded.

It would be 100 times easier to make a java applet though.
