I for one would be willing to donate towards the $150 =]

Looks like we've already hit the target, if we're each donating $25 and we have:
Zedar, Armand, Blib, Royston, Jamesbond, Crazyfool
Now we just need a good banner. Something eye catching with an appealing catchphrase. I'm not good at that sort of thing, anyone else?

I've emailed topmudsites to ask (a) how many people we'd be sharing the banner spot with, and (b) whether they can accept individual payments or want us to submit it as one sum.
Paypal seems to be the payment method so if we have to do it as one sum we just need one of us to collect it in their paypal account and submit it.
It would appear that Crazyfool has volunteered himself for this job

Looks like there is already a pretty good banner available, thanks to Crowley:
I've mud-mailed him to ask if he doesn't mind me making an alteration to it, as we were discussing some ideas of mentioning prizes for new players.
The $25 each, assuming we have six donors, would be for 7 months, not monthly. Works out to about ?2.35 per month. We would need to pay it all in advance though.
Still waiting on the reply from topmudsites but will post when I get it.
