I could make you an official thread for complaining about things that aren't official!

Will someone please define 'official' for me in this context? And please keep this thread running. It's one of the most amusing I have read for a long time.

I hate to be saying this, but it's looking like I might also have to cancel. I know there's normally stuff happening on the Friday night before the meet, so if that's the case then I'd like to come on that night instead. I'll know for sure by the end of this weekend whether or not I can make the Saturday.
Zedar, do you happen to still have my mobile number? If you wanna get in touch, I might be able to take over your hotel room.
EDIT: I mudmailed you my number just in case.

Hey Hal
They refunded the room after all. I'm gutted everyone's plans fell through. Will miss y'all!

How did you manage to persuade them to refund it (so I can try the same thing)?

So are other folks still attending?
I was quietly sitting on the fence but it was beginning to cramp...

I believe the list so far is-
Royston
Salvadore
Osterbane
(Pippin maybe)
Sabretooth
It's a short list but with some fantastic people so get your butt off the damn fence and come to the meet.

Phoned them up; first time "no, nothing we can do but you might find something on our website"; second time I asked which departments have the power to refund and manage to squeeze out a "the email team have more power" then wrote an email saying I've had conflicting advice.. Emailed them asking where I can take my complaint further; explaining 'that I'd been given run-around' then got a phonecall a week later offering a full refund. GL

That at Travelodge?
Their policy is to refund if you cancel by 12.00 the day of arrival???
Unless you had some special early booking deal, that may change it.

Yea Vul
Think it depends which package you go for. They do 'cancellation insurance' but I didn't go for it

LOL
Zordie would get your cash back, and probably come out with the mini bar, a bed, couple of TVs etc.
Have a good time all!

I just got confirmation that I definitely won't be able to attend. So, seeing as how I'm quite lazy and can't be bothered to go through a big hassle to get a ?35 refund, if anyone who isn't currently attending wants to go, you can have my hotel room for free (assuming they aren't fussy about the name changing). It's a single room at the Travelodge by the beach, on Saturday 14th, with late check-out (12pm).
