The mobile bashes have returned after a few months' hiatus. Special thanks to Dara, Winnie, and Zarquadon for their assistance with this writeup. I'm splitting this into parts for easier reading:
After a few months' hiatus, the mobile bashes returned on May 8th, 2025. At the start of the bash, the players were as follows:
Players:
Heiach the chimerical wizard
Winnie the warlock
Dara the sorceress
Monmonnn the sorcerer
Drizzle the wobbly mage
This was the first bash we'd had in a few months. We were joined by a new participant, Monmonn, who has started playing this incarnation of MUD2 only recently. This bash would have more than a few surprises.
A strong start
Things got off to a quick start, as Dara dispatched the raven and Winnie made short work of the parrot. Monmonn reported sightings of the pike and the eel, two rarely seen mobiles that occasionally spawn in The Land. As Dara fought with the stag, Winnie disposed of the scorpion and viper-shaped biohazards. Monmonn, meanwhile, was made bash-general for the first time.
There was a flood in the mine. Meanwhile, Dara finished off the stag as the pagoda opened up. Monmonn, meanwhile, went after the basilisk. Dara finished off the fox and got rid of the ox, while Winnie took out a drunken thief. All three of them headed to the classical ruin for the pillar boost.
Afterward, Dara had a shocking confrontation with the electric eel, but afterward proclaimed "Eel done!". Winnie killed five fireflies. Dara then ventured to the open pagoda area and fought with ape0, while Monmonn went to the cellar to deal with its rat infestation problem. Winnie went piking (in other words, went after the aforementioned pike).
*Winnie the warlock shouts "Taking the pike out for a hike(?)".
*Monmonnn the bash-general necromancer shouts "Going to hitch a wagon with the
dragon...".
*Heiach the chimerical wizard shouts "the apes seem to all be in-fighting".
*Monmonnn the bash-general necromancer shouts "They're dooming themselves!".
Part Two: Pagoda, water-snakes, and dragon
Winnie took down the magpie during this, and then went to fight the water-snakes, as is her usual habit during these mobile bashes (by her own admission). Dara, meanwhile, went to the upper north mountain/snowy mountainside area, and fought with the snowbird. Winnie and/or Zarquadon's lackey (who's Zarquadon? We'll get to that later) assumed the snow leopard was on the loose, but Dara informed me she saw no snow leopard during the bash - it, like the pike and the eel, is one of those rarely seen mobiles that only occasionally appears.
Around the time Dara ended the snowbird's flight, Monmonnn declared his intent to make the undead unundead. Dara fought with the pony, making a reference to a certain pony-themed series' theme as she did so. Monmonnn, meanwhile, sought the dragon as Winnie continued to seek out water-snakes.
Monmonnn accomplished his mission (Dara and Winnie assumed his announcement meant he had fed the dragon and escaped from the dragon's island safely), and left the dagger in the hut (presumably because he'd found another weapon). The wolf went AAAOOOOOOHHHH, and soon there were 125 mobiles left, with 81 mins remaining.
Around this time, Dara had fought and successfully combatted the monk. Ape9 interfered during the monk fight, and after Dara finished the monk, she pursued the fleeing ape9 to the nearby dining hall to conclude the matter, as Monmonn announced his intention to deal with the dwarfs.
Dara fought ape8, Monmonn fought sk1, and Winnie wrapped things up with the remaining water-snakes. Oh, and the dragon went down. Some interesting prefixes were assigned, as we can see here:
*who
Heiach the chimerical wizard
Winnie the malleting warlock
Dara the sorceress who's going ape
Monmonnn the dragon-slaying, bash-general necromancer
Drizzle the wobbly mage
*Winnie the malleting warlock shouts "I am pleased to announce that there are
no more water-snakes (I am helping)".
*Monmonnn the dragon-slaying, bash-general necromancer shouts "Well done!".
*Heiach the chimerical wizard shouts "now for the fire and earth snakes".
At this point, Dara asked Heiach if this was a preview of another one of his reset remixes (which introduce new variations on existing elements, among other things), and Heiach responded "no that's silly". We'll have to wait and see on that one, I guess.

Part Three: Tiger, dwarf guards, shenanigans, and a surprise loss
Soon afterward, Dara encountered the giant snake, who was having its usual hissy fit. Monmonnn was in the dwarf citadel, facing the dwarfs. Winnie sought ape6 in the ape forest as Dara fought ape10.
Winnie the malleting warlock shouts "ape6 down!".
Monmonnn the dragon-slaying, bash-general necromancer shouts "The dwarves are
not happy with me".
With that in mind, Winnie headed to the citadel to help Monmonnn with the dwarfs. Dara, meanwhile, finished with ape11, and went on to do some ghost-busting in the upper floors of the pagoda.
With 65 minutes left and 100 mobiles left, there came the following enigmatic message.
*For your information: Some shenanigans have occurred.
You have just been woken up!
Your stamina is 86.
*sv
95 alive, 199 dead.
*(Monmonnn the dragon-slaying, bash-general necromancer) shouts "That is
concerning".
With no specifics as to what the shenanigans were, our bashers just had to keep going about their business. After Dara moved to the second floor of the pagoda, she encountered a phoenix in a dark room, and then dispatched a mongoose. Around this time, Soulhole the hero arrived at the bash, and was encouraged to join in by Heiach and Dara.
Monmonnn and Winnie were taking down dwarf guards, as Dara began hunting the tiger in the pagoda courtyard. Soulhole had an encounter with the ram. Unfortunately, Dara had to flee from the tiger, causing the tiger to be worth 433 points.
It was then that tragedy struck.
*In the distance, you hear a bell toll.
You have just been woken up!
Your stamina is 55.
*obit
The following players have died in fights this reset:
(Winnie the malleting warlock), killed by the surly dwarf guard.
*who
Heiach the chimerical wizard
Soulhole the hero
Dara the sorceress who's going ape
Monmonnn the dragon-slaying, bash-general necromancer
Drizzle the wobbly mage
For your information: the surly dwarf11 guard is worth 2,414 points if killed.
Much to everyone's shock and sadness, Winnie had fallen in battle against the last remaining surly dwarf guard, dwarf11. The reactions were as follows:
Dara the sorceress who's going ape shouts "Oh no!".
*Heiach the chimerical wizard shouts "oh no!!".
*Monmonnn the dragon-slaying, bash-general necromancer shouts "Nooooo".
*Monmonnn the dragon-slaying, bash-general necromancer shouts "Maiden dead!".
*Heiach the chimerical wizard shouts "yes we heard the bell".
*Monmonnn the dragon-slaying, bash-general necromancer shouts "The other
maiden!".
Wait ... what other maiden?
Well, it turns out the 'shenanigans' mentioned earlier involved swapping certain mobiles' positions. The maiden from the keep was now in the king's usual area of the citadel, summoning crows at those who fought her, and the king dwarf and the queen dwarf had taken over management of the top floor of the keep. So Monmonn had fought with the maiden and the crows at an unexpected location.
*Heiach the chimerical wizard shouts "first bash in a month or so and someone
dies, oh no!".
*Monmonnn the dragon-slaying, bash-general necromancer shouts "I almost died
looking away, a crow walked in!".
Everyone was still reeling from the loss of Winnie, but Dara managed to finish off the tiger, and would later find and take down zombie7.

Part Four: Keep Calm and Carry Bees In a Box
It was soon that we had a new arrival.
*who
Heiach the chimerical wizard
Zarquadon the protector
Soulhole the hero
Dara the sorceress who's going ape
Monmonnn the dragon-slaying, bash-general necromancer
Drizzle the wobbly mage
Zarquadon soon discovered that zombies are pretty tricky to fight as a protector, even when armed. Anyway, Dara fought with a few roaming dwarfs, as Soulhole asked for assistance facing skeleton2 in the mausoleum.
Monmonnn the dragon-slaying, bash-general necromancer shouts "On the way".
*Zarquadon shouts "The Federation shall send help. It shall arrive in 5-10
buisness lightyears.".
Anyway Dara, Monmonnn, and Zarquadon made their way to the keep. Zarquadon followed the other two, seeing as she had just arrived here from The Federation's obligatory teleportation tubes which may or may not be discussed in further detail in the future.
Together, they took down the griffin and the spectre, and encountered the king dwarf and the queen dwarf on the top floor of the keep (which, of course, is not their usual base of operations).
Oh, and somewhere along the way, a bunch of bees got placed in the box that Monmonnn was carrying. These bees stayed in the box for a while, only to be released during the fight with the king dwarf and the queen dwarf. From Dara's log of the fight, which she so graciously supplied:
*You miss the queen dwarf.
The queen dwarf misses you.
You miss the king dwarf.
The king dwarf hits you (93/105).
The king dwarf makes some magical gestures.
The king dwarf emits a bright blue flash of light.

*sv
42 alive, 264 dead.
As the above makes clear, the bees didn't last very long in that fight. Whether the king dwarf took some damage from the bees, I don't think any of us can say, but the king clearly was ready to fight them and did so. Between the king and Dara, the bees went down fast.
The fight continued on after all the bees were gone. Zarquadon got blinded, but declared "THE FEDERATION SHALL NOT BE BLINDED!!!", and still managed to flail around and hit some of the enemies. Soon, the queen dwarf and the king dwarf fell in battle, and it was time to lower dwarf flags to half-staff.

Part Five: Goblins, vampire, and a pretender to the throne
Monmonnn, in the spirit of his bash general responsibilities, did some WH-ing and discovered that goblins, sea life, and evil wood accounted for many of the mobiles still remaining. In response to the declaration that dwarf flags should be lowered to half-staff, the surly dwarf11 guard who was now stronger for having killed a warlock in battle shouted this:
The surly dwarf guard shouts "I guess that makes me the new king?".
However, the bashers decided to deal with him later. Soulhole, sadly, did not stay for the remainder of the bash. Monmonnn and Dara fought the vampire and the wraith as Zarquadon sighted the hunchback. After defeating the evil wood's tag team champions, Monmonnn went off to deal with the rest of the goblins, while Dara went to face the dwarf guards in the treasure chamber, encountering crow11 along the way.
Dara, however, ran into problems facing the thickset dwarf guards, and with Winnie's fate on her mind, beat a hasty retreat. There were 25 mobiles left with less then 14 minutes to go.
Monmonnn would help Dara finish off the thickset dwarf guards. Meanwhile, Zarquadon (having helped out with the goblins), had taken down the hunchback.
Final Showdown, further shenanigans, and the last remaining mobiles
At this point, the bashers had run out of useable and reachable wafers, so they had to rely on resting up to recover stamina. This may have cost some time. Zarquadon reported that there was an old man in the graveyard.
Dara and Monmonnn entered the surlies' dwarf guard room for a final showdown with the surly dwarf11 guard, hoping to avenge Winnie.
Dwarf guard room.
This is the home of the king's guard, special, hand-picked troops of the
highest order, pledged to lay their lives down in order to save that of their
regal master. To the north is a room which seems to indicate use as a debating
forum of some kind, and from it through this room runs a red fitted carpet to
a doorway in the south wall. The doorway itself is of heavy oak, and although
elegantly finished seems to be built more with strength in mind than
ornamentation. A smallish, well-maintained pickaxe has been dropped here. The
oaken door is open. A surly dwarf guard (dwarf11) blocks your way. The surly
dwarf11 guard is wearing a crown, and is carrying a shortsword.
Yes, the surly dwarf guard had a crown, apparently trying to claim the throne vacated by the dwarf king and queen. Zarquadon would join in, as she also had a stake in this. As the fight raged on, some shouts occured.
*Monmonnn the dragon-slaying, bash-general necromancer shouts "Death to the
false king!".
*Heiach the chimerical wizard shouts "they're the new king".
The fight continued. From Dara's log:
*You hear sinews tearing, as Zarquadon the hunchback-killing swordswoman hits
the surly dwarf11 guard with her poker.
You hear a grinding noise, as the surly dwarf11 guard hits Zarquadon the
hunchback-killing swordswoman with his shortsword.
You hit the surly dwarf11 guard (10-14).
The surly dwarf11 guard looks critically injured.
The surly dwarf11 guard misses you.
You hear a dull thud, as Monmonnn the dragon-slaying, bash-general necromancer
hits the surly dwarf11 guard with his broadsword.
You hear a stumble, as the surly dwarf11 guard misses Monmonnn the
dragon-slaying, bash-general necromancer with his shortsword.
*You hear a dull thud, as Zarquadon the hunchback-killing swordswoman hits the
surly dwarf11 guard with her poker.
You hear a parried blow, as the surly dwarf11 guard misses Zarquadon the
hunchback-killing swordswoman with his shortsword.
You hit the surly dwarf11 guard (5-9).
The surly dwarf11 guard looks close to death.
The surly dwarf11 guard misses you.
*You miss the surly dwarf11 guard.
The surly dwarf11 guard misses you.
*You hear a parried blow, as Monmonnn the dragon-slaying, bash-general
necromancer misses the surly dwarf11 guard with his broadsword.
You hear a stinging blow, as the surly dwarf11 guard hits Monmonnn the
dragon-slaying, bash-general necromancer with his shortsword.
*You hear a grinding noise, as Zarquadon the hunchback-killing swordswoman
hits the surly dwarf11 guard with her poker.
You have killed the surly dwarf11 guard.
(Persona saved on +804 = 17,679).
Gleaming in front of you is a magnificent crown!
Your eyes are drawn to the sublime beauty of an enchanted shortsword which
lies by your feet.
The surly dwarf11 guard has just passed on.
So yes, the surly dwarf guard was worth a lot of points, shared among the players who dealt the final blow. There was little time left to celebrate the victory, as there were still more mobiles to face. Again, from Dara's log:
Monmonnn the dragon-slaying, bash-general necromancer shouts "Skeleton in
waterfall needs to die".
*sh I didn't see any white smoke. So it's not the new king. Oh, wait...
You shout "I didn't see any white smoke. So it's not the new king. Oh, wait...
".
*Zarquadon the hunchback-killing swordswoman has picked up the shortsword.
*Zarquadon the hunchback-killing swordswoman has just left.
*Monmonnn the dragon-slaying, bash-general necromancer shouts "Zombie room".
Zarquadon would search for the baby dwarf, while Monmonnn would run into problems with the goat. Dara would rush to his assistance, and help to finish off the goat. Monmonnn would then go after the sharks while Dara and Zarquadon would fight the man.
Afterward, Dara would go after the spider, but was a little too slow with using the phial. So unfortunately she had to re-enter and wait for the spider to emerge from its lair again. Meanwhile, Monmonnn announced "Shark dead!"
*Heiach the chimerical wizard shouts "don't carp on about it".
After Dara finished the spider, she went after the carp, and Heiach also hinted that the swan was still in play. Zarquadon caught a sniffle, but still managed to take down the skeleton0.
Dara fought the boar as the last rats were disposed of. Then it was time for the players to team up to do the action needed to reach the inner sanctum where the golem is normally found. However, the shenanigans were not just limited to the maiden and the dwarf royalty. It turned out the golem and the ogre had switched places as well.
Zarquadon got a bit drunk trying to cure her sniffle, but she managed to help Dara fight the golem in the ogre's lair, and together they brought it down.
In the end, there could be only one. And that mobile was the jellyfish. Monmonnn went to sea in search of it, but was unable to find the jellyfish before the set came to an end.
Afterward, everyone got together for the post-bash meeting in the tearoom, stating that it was a good attempt. Aside from the loss of Winnie and using up wafers early on, things turned out better than some had expected. Getting down to one mobile is still a very good effort.
All in all, for the first bash in a few months, I'd say our bashers did pretty well.
This bash report is dedicated to Winnie the malleting warlock. We miss you already.
Conclusion of bash report for May 8th, 2025
